(Wellness Montana) High blood pressure. It’s all over the commercials and in the magazine advertisements. We are made aware of the myriad disorders it leads to (cardiovascular disease, diabetes, dementia, etc.) and the poor quality of life it creates.

One of the most direct cause/effect problems of high blood pressure is a malfunctioning nervous system. Because the spinal cord and brain directly control every part of the body, misaligned bones in the spinal column can greatly heighten blood pressure.

As a community service, Wellness Montana is holding a FREE blood pressure screening at the Manhattan Gym, April 27th from 8:30am – 10:30am. This is a great time to come by for a COMPLIMENTARY screening to see if you have high blood pressure.

If you have any questions, please post them in the comments below or email us. We look forward to seeing you there!

(Wellness Montana) What do Dr. Seuss and chiropractic have in common? Nothing short of our appreciation for YOU, our patients!

On May 1st and 4th, we will be holding our annual PATIENT APPRECIATION DAYS! If you haven’t attended one of these in the past, then you’ve missed out on a good time. We urge you to come join the fun!

On May 1st, all existing patients will receive free treatments from Dr. Kim and Dr. Morgan all day!

On May 4th, any new patients you refer will receive a consultation, exam and X-Rays with Dr. Morgan at no charge to see if chiropractic can benefit them as well!

And as always, there will be plenty of food, goodies, and FUN available!

On this day we remember that if it wasn’t for you and the results you receive, as well as the good things you say about us, we would not be as successful as we are meeting people’s needs in our community.

On this day of special care, we do ask that each patient bring in a donation of $5.00 for each treatment. This is a collection that will in turn be given to Haven, a local non-profit organization that provides a safe space where a woman can escape crisis and plan for a future free from violence.

DON’T MISS OUT! THIS IS YOUR DAY TO ENJOY! Call and schedule your appointment for yourself, friends, and family at (406) 522-LIFE.

(*Please note due to limited availability, appointments will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.)

(Wellness Montana) In a country where sugary snacks are often the norm, “less will save your life” may seem counterintuitive at first, especially when it comes to heart health.

For many years, American medical doctors have operated upon the paradigm that high cholesterol levels are the primary culprit in poor heart health. Accordingly, they have prescribed medication to monitor and prevent the onset of heart disease. However, when the heart is no longer within healthy cholesterol ranges, surgery is often prescribed to avoid the risk of heart attack.[1]

However, as the medical industry begins to look more closely at the root causes of heart disease, many are realizing that cholesterol is not the problem at all. The reality is that Americans are extremely careless with their diet, particularly with the amounts of glucose and processed sugar they ingest.

The body is designed to maintain a stable and constant blood sugar level. Eating regular meals of fresh fruits, vegetables, and health-giving protein such as meat and whey enable a healthy internal environment.

On the other hand, eating foods with high sugar contents creates spikes in blood sugar levels, which in turn cause the pancreas to produce more insulin to stabilize and maintain blood sugar after meals.[2] In response to this excess of sugar, the body produces inflammation—the same substance used to fight off unwanted invaders. This inflammation then coats the cardiovascular system in an effort to protect it, making it even more difficult for the heart to support and maintain the body. This presence of chronic inflammation has been a precursor and symptom of myriad diseases, including heart disease.[3]
