(Wellness Montana) Did your mother or grandmother tell you that there is no way you can have a comfortable pregnancy? Did they say that you can only expect pain in labor and delivery? Did your OB/GYN tell you that you have a high risk pregnancy–and then not explain why? These and many other false statements have caused women to fear pregnancy, labor, and delivery. I want to assure you of two very simple truths:
If you desire a happy, healthy, stress-free, and hassle-free pregnancy, you can have it! That desire and outcome is your inalienable right as a woman, mother, and human. There is not one person that can take that from you.
However, in order to have the pregnancy you desire, you have to dispel the myth that your pregnancy has to be uncomfortable. Common pregnancy pains (such as heartburn, hip pain, low back pain, sciatica, mid-back pain, etc.) can all be helped with conservative care. Chiropractic is a great and easy way to correct these conditions. When the chiropractor reduces the interference of the nervous system, you’ll not only notice reduction or complete alleviation of pain, but you’ll notice that you sleep better and have improved mental clarity and attitude.
Not only that, chiropractic is very beneficial to the child in utero. Chiropractic has been shown to help with the compression of the baby inside the womb due to pelvic rotation. Also, whether it’s your first, second, third, or fourth, or more pregnancy, the baby will have more room to wiggle, and move. Once those aches and pains are gone, your pregnancy will progress quickly and happily.
Secondly, you have to understand that your thoughts are powerful things. Thoughts become even more powerful when words are given to them, especially when it concerns an uncomfortable pregnancy. Your emotional state during pregnancy can greatly influence the development of your son or daughter. We all want the best for our children, so why not give them all that we can from the very beginning? Meditate, get a massage, relax, and enjoy the changes of your body. Read a fantastic book, Spiritual Midwifery by Ina May Gaskin about what to expect from your pregnancy. Another great book to read is Well Adjusted Babies by Dr. Jennifer Barham-Floreani, DC. Both books talk about the incredible control your mind and emotions can have over your body’s responses during pregnancy. Continue reading…
